The Hot Club of Hungary quintet is the first authentic practitioner of the swing manouche (gypsy jazz) musical style in Hungary. The band plays the great standards of the legendary French band Hot Club de France of the 1930's and '40's. Leaders of this revolutionary string swing band were the great and unique-sounding guitarist Django Reinhardt, and most brilliant jazz violinist Stephane Grappelly. The repertoire of the Hot Club of Hungary includes the most melodic tunes and most impressive swinging music of all time.
The band started to play in 2004 with Ákos Tóth, then from 2010 they play with a new singer, banjo and guitar player, Pál Gáspár.
Hot Club of Hungary had more then 500 concerts from 2007 in such countries like Hungary, Austria, Germany, Italy and France. The band has proved its talent to audiences many times in festivals, swingdance parties, jazz clubs, pubs, TV and radio shows and on the street as well.
They have two CD-s, the older formation, and they going to make a new one with the new formation in 2011.
The band played with well known bands and musicians like: Hot Jazz Band(H), Hot Club de Corse(F),La Palinka(F), Daniel Weltlinger(AUS,violin), Jelle Van Tongeren(NL,violin), Patrick Saussois(F,guitar), David Reinhardt(F,guitar), Richard Manetti(F,guitar).Mark Tortorici(USA,vocal), and Val Peterson(USA,vocal).
