Christine Tassan

In 1994, she emigrated to Quebec and intensified her musical activities, performing regularly on stage, in Montreal and in the regions. In 1996, she was a finalist at the Festival International de la Chanson de Granby as a singer-songwriter and won the Prix Coup de Coeur des Francofolies, a festival in which she participated in 1997.

The "jazzy" rhythm of her songs leads her to take an interest in the improvisation aspect and to develop her guitar playing in this perspective. Christine discovers the jazz of European gypsies, as interpreted by guitarist Django Reinhardt, gypsy jazz. She becomes aware of her irresistible attraction for this dynamic and festive style, requiring technical virtuosity and a sure melodic sense. From 2000, she performed first in duet, then in quintet, in the acoustic swing tradition of the Hot Club de France. The group participated in the Montreal Jazz Festival in 2003 and was very successful with the public.
