Patrick Saussois

His father is of Breton and Basque origin, his mother of gypsy origin.

The guitar of his father, amateur guitarist, fascinates him and he learns to play the instrument all alone, with the particularity of being left-handed and playing on a right-handed guitar. He listens to all the music and is captivated by a record of Django Reinhardt recorded in 1953. He will learn later that Django also played acoustic guitar ...

After his BEPC, he earns his living by doing odd jobs and then helps his father in fairground markets.

In 1973, he became the father of a girl named Christel.

In 1976 he plays in trio and starts to play balls. He began a professional career in 1977 and works with Gilbert Leroux and Daniel Garcia. In 1980, he met Didier Roussin, with whom he played for nine years, and recorded his first album, Si tu savais, in 1982.

Around 1988, Patrick Saussois created his own record company Djaz Records.

In 1996, he created his Alma Sinti with Jean-Yves Dubanton, Samy Daussat, Jean-Claude Bénéteau, Jean-Claude Laudat, Stan Laferrière (son of Marc Laferrière) and Jean Cortès.

He is also a friend of Jean-Luc Chevalier and Daniel Givone, with whom he has had the opportunity several times to perform in concert.

He lived in Montrouge, where he organized every year a gypsy jazz night.

He is also a former host on the radio station TSF Jazz.

In March 2009, he suffered a stroke2, which generated a syndrome of confinement, leaving him unable to continue his career.
